Today, I’m celebrating the 400th sale so far this year of Hell Holes: What Lurks Below. I had a big jump in October and early November due to an ad placed with ManyBooks. I am also going to have a 2-week book tour with Ultimate Fantasy Books in early December, and with any luck, I’ll break 500 by the end of the year. This is definitely the most popular book I’ve ever written, and interest has definitely made me feel good about writing fiction again after so many decades.
I am trying my first significant advertising promotion today using Bargain Booksy. The ad for Hell Holes: Demons on the Dalton is being emailed to approximately 107,000 members of Bargain Booksy, who have registered their interest in paranormal fantasy. The ad is also being displayed on their homepage and their fantasy page. Being my first purchased advertising campaign, I am naturally very interested in seeing how well it does. I only need about 40 sales to break even on the costs.
Most librarians won’t consider buying a book that doesn’t have a CIP block on the copyright page. I just created CIP blocks for Hell Holes: What Lurks Below and Hell Holes: Demons on the Dalton. What a pain in the butt. Now I understand why a lot of indie authors pay someone to generate them. This is what one looks like:
